Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku

Image
Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody tags: isekai, harem, and romance.   I love this anime. After reading some comments it seems that people either love or hate it. Lets start with the isekai tag. Are we seeing too many isekai recently? It's kind of like saying, "there is too much fantasy." Isekai is more specific in that it's being transported to a fantasy world. It is often but not exclusive to a video game world. This seems reasonable considering how many anime weebs love video games. You don't often hear that there are too many high school anime. Because high school is the setting and it can be a romance, comedy, or supernatural. It's the same with isekai. Death March is isekai in setting but slice of life is a more prominent theme. There is some action, it's a video game world after all. Is it also harem? The mc's party gains cute girls pretty early on. But he views them as family and not romantic interests. This spares us some of the u...

Socially Awkward in Anime

Image
There are many shy anime characters, but I wanted to recommend animes that have social anxiety as a theme. I'm sure a few of you can relate. By some strange coincidence all of these animes share the school genre tag. Either way they are decent animes deserving your consideration. Not every anime listed is about someone with an extreme social anxiety disorder, some interact fine with others but some misunderstanding or other keeps people distant. 1. Kimi ni Todoke The show revolves around Sawako. She is awkward and dense with a tendency to make wierd faces when greeting people. This anime may deal with making friends but there is plenty of romance. Romance, comedy, drama, school, and slice of life.   2. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukanai Kodaka has trouble making friends at school when a misunderstanding gets him labeled as a violent delinquent. He teams up with another socially awkward student to form the Neighbors Club, an after school club intent on practici...

Rumiko Takahashi Recomendations

Image
The theme for these recommendations will be works adapted from manga artist Rumiko Takahashi. She is the best selling female manga artist ever. She has sold more than 100 million copies of manga. It's not my intent to introduce you to masterpieces, these animes are good and we all have different taste. But if you got down time and nothing to watch these might entertain you. Most of these are done in an older art style and the 3:4 ratio. But a good story is worth it regardless of the downsides of older art.   1. Maison Ikkoku Very good anime. Aired from 1986 to 1988. It's a rom-com with some drama. Godai lives in a boarding house with eccentric neighbors. He goes after the manager (romantically) of the boarding house who is 2 years his senior and a widow. One of my favorites. The weird neighbors are hilarious. 2. Inuyasha Aired from 2000 to 2004. The story is finished in a later series InuYasha: Kaketsu-hen 2009 to 2010. The heroine can travel be...

Omusubi

Image
Omusubi (Musubi: the O is honorific) is another term for rice ball or onigiri. The difference in name is a regional preference. It also can mean put your hands together. That is what you do when forming rice balls. It also has Shinto meaning. Put your hands together is the same as clapping, which is part of ritual in Shinto.   omusubi chat
